Styrene smell clothes cleaning

I typically wear a full tyvec suit when working with resins. Most of the time the zipper is down exposing half of my shirt. At the end of the day my clothes smell of styrene. I can understand the shirt but my pants smell as well.

I guess there is no way around the lingering smell on clothing. How do people rid it from their clothes. I have been leaving my clothes outside to let them vent before washing. They still smell before washing though and faintly after. Any advice?

Maybe you should zip that suit up:D

Or use epoxy? I buy $5 (nz$) shirts and throw them away.

I can say if you want to remove fibres use a tumble drier as the static pulls them off your clothes. Just don’t use a antistatic mat.

For one summer I worked at this agricultural waste management facility at my university where we tried to think of beneficial ways to get rid of farm waste. When those big chicken houses get a disease running around killing all of the chickens, they end up having to get rid of the whole lot of them. We would take them and use them for compost. They had a terrible ammonia like smell during composting that would not come out of your clothes no matter how hard you tried. I ended up just setting aside clothes designated specifically for working at this place. I’m sure you have probably thought of this and I’m not answering your question, but that was my answer.

wash again. Tyvek suits are not impremiable(sp?), meaning things, mostly vapors and air, will get through. Liquids will not. Styrene should vapor off for the most part. Make sure y ou wash and dry warm/hot. Else, post-cure your clothes in the oven when you post cure your parts

Haaa Post cure my clothes. Yes they will appreciate a three temp ramp profile!

most all my clothes now are messed up from working with resins so I don’t mind it LOL. have a set of clothes just for work

keep them stored in a seperate area besides your clothes closet or dresser.

Wonder if white vinager will get the smell out. Works with grease, and the smells of.

Learn to love the smell, problem solved.

Do you think people in the chocolate factory smell of chicken or the guys at the car-wash go home dry?

styrene, to hell with it. been using only epoxies for a year now and my neighbors are much happier lol.
