spray on vacuum bag

Has anyone used this product/system? I wonder if there is a more simply applied version… something that could be sprayed on with say an HVLP gun or similar?

Got a link? Never seen it before.

Not sprayed on but latex can be brushed on and then bandage gauze (for reinforcement) with Latex for strength.

And then you suck the air out of it? I used to make latex molds for model train stuff, tunnel entrances, rocks, fences, buildings etc. and that’s what I did.

not knowing what brand you are talking about…but…
I’ve heard bad things, but some people love them. I wish I got to use them.
They WILL smell like hell though, that I hear is a downside FROM the companies.

He may be typing about Vacuspray at http://www.actr.com but it takes expensive equipment to spray this material.

Airtech came out recently with a “sprayable multi-bag kit”…not sure about the material though, assuming silicone

might get to try that in the near future, but it’s quite costly for my personal liking…I’d like to do a brushable silicone bag with integrated seals, ports and maybe even distribution media, anyone done that before?

OH, their new stuff is sprayable? i thought it was the brush-on product. Eh.

I think you can get the silicone seals, and brush/spray the silicone over that, then it’ll glue itself to the pre-made seal?
Eh, there was so much at SAMPE, i know there were at least 3 companies.

yeah, they changed their brush-on to spray-on…and yes there are multiple companies out there that do that kind of stuff, if I could just find my SAMPE business card collection…but aren’t we all more the DIY-kind of guys?! much more rewarding  and I was thinking the same direction concerning pre-made seals and stuff…let’s dooo eeeeet riff!

I meant to sample the Silicone reuseable bag system some time ago and never did. Has anyone here with any success ?
My first Q’ about it is…when making the new bag, what separates the mold from the silicone. Is a mold release used ? And is sheet wax used to replicate the molded parts thickness/tolerance ?
Cheers,Vinny

IMO is you hand lay it up the mold the way you want it and then brush or spray on the reusable vacuum bagging materials…whatever you use!

Right, right…got that part Jim. But is there anything that temporarily goes between the dry lay-up before the silicone ?Like a plastic sheet pulled under vac ?
Vinny

No mold release is needed to release silicone from a poly or epoxy mold surface.

And your correct with the sheet wax thing. Use “one side sticky” sheet wax. Dont try to melt any seams together. Butt the edges and fill the seam with plasticine. It will produce a really clean “imitation part” for making your bag.

Werks got it:D yep same website i found the info on. On the video i saw from that company, they showed the material being sprayed directly onto the mold, then peel it off, do your lay up, then stick the bag on top of the lay up as usuall. I guess you would have to use some sticky bag tape or some kind of air tight adhesive to the flanges. They sprayed it on THICK… like 1/8" - 3/16".
