Spot buffing

So I started the clear coat thread and I guess this would be the follow up to it, haha.

I have a makita buffer with a few different flexible hook and loop pads, cutting compounds and such as well. The smallest one I have is a 3 inch but it’s still to large for some spots and also the hook and loop doesn’t work that well when you are forcing it into corners.

Since corners don’t particularly need to be polished like a flat surface it’s not a huge deal to me but they still need to look good and also I’m having issues with my 3 inch wool pads.

I’m wondering what you guys are using do right corners or even 90 degree angles. I thought about the mothers powercone attachment but it seems that it may not work.

Also an issue I have is I have a very thin run of carbon… It’s about 1/2 inch wide, 10 inches long and 1/8th thick. I feel as if it will snap if I mishandle the buffer. Any help would be appreciated. I also though about making some type of device to hold my buffer down and I can move the part freely.

For very tight rads and corners we use a Dremel with the appropriate attachment.

Regarding a static polisher - We use a floor mount polisher. For smaller parts a bench grinder with a polishing mop attached will suffice

Thanks for the quick reply! I actually tried a Dremel before but I think I had the wrong attachment. I just used the hard cloth that usually came with the packages.

I’m searching on Amazon now but would you happen to have a link to a policy ire of what attachments used after you wet sand with whatever grit you are typically using?

Have you got access to compresses air ?
Ebay " 3" air polisher"
You will see lots of polisher,s that use hook and loop foam pads
You can also get 3" da
One word of warning if you do get ooe and your polishing in a corner cut some of the hook material from the foam,if you don’t an you go into a corner the edge of the hook material can mark the part

Agree with a 2" or 3" hook and loop type air sander. Zentool also make a good small polisher, but it’s very up there in price.

I do have an air compressor so yes I’m going to take a look into things! Thanks guys.
