Souorce for destructive testing

Hi everybody

Anybondy knows a source where I could ask for the destruction of composite coupons for a reasonble price. No certificate or homologations required.

www.analyte.nl

105 euros per coupon in tension. My god thats a couple of thousands to get a little perspective on tension with different layers.

Pricing is not that bad. They also do Tg measurements.

I guess unless you team up with a university you will not get things much cheaper. Perhaps you can get bulk pricing?

I will need to negotiate a little to see if i can get some bulk pricing.
Thanks for sharing the info

We usually pay about $60 per coupon for tensile testing (ASTM D3039).

Some U.S. labs are Structural Composites, Exova, Intertek. Atlantic Metallurgical Consulting is a good lab in Nova Scotia.

Off course shipping costs may offset the reduced costs of the tests.

Thanks for sharing. That fits my budget more closely.
According to some papers about 5 equal coupons should be performed to evaluate standard deviation. I will keep it down to 3. Testing three different coupon types for tension compression and shear. >>>1300$>>1000euro Dont think shipping cost would be meaningful.
Do you test for shear by performing a tensile test on a coupon with +/-45ยบ fiber orientation?

The only shear testing I have done is the Isopescu shear test (ASTM D5379). There are a couple other ASTM methods for in-plane shear properties like ASTM D7078. The following is a good source for composites testing information http://www.wyomingtestfixtures.com/products.html

Gezzuz, I did not know it was this expensive to test. WHat tests do you want, and are your coupons already prepared? Maybe I can score some free time if you send them to me.

I opened the pandoras box. What a great webpage on testing.
Dont have a clue what i want to test with so many options. Need to think about it and consult with qualified people. I have the loads on the wing but need to adapt the loads to the composite world.
I think I wont test for buckling but need to figure out if shear tension and compression need to be tested with or without core.
I dont have the coupons ready. In fact i am anticipating the next construction steps i will face. Depending on the test and machine I will prepare the right coupons.
Thanks everybody for the contributions.
