Soric Core. Still required to use flow media?

I’m wondering about the usage of flow media, when using a Soric core.

For example, if I have a layup which consists of the following layup:

All fabric is 2x2 3k twill, 5.9 oz/yd.

Bag
Perf film
0/90
45/-45
Soric core
45/-45
0/90
Mold surface

Or another example:

Bag
Perf film
0/90
45/-45
0/90
45/-45
Soric core
45/-45
0/90
45/45
Mold Surface
0/90

Using those examples, do I need to use a flow media between the bag and perf film?

In principle, no. But keep in mind that the Soric needs a resin feed. And Soric is not a very fast infusion medium, something that is actually beneficial when infusing carbon. just keep in mind the distances and resin geltime.

Edit: And why the perf film? Basicly not needed for anything, when not using infusion mesh.

I suppose if you’re not using infusion media, then its not required, I haven’t completely thought it through.

When you mention that soric needs a resin feed, what would be an adequate means of doing so?

As an example, lets say I have an 18" x 18" square flat sheet to infuse. The soric core is a 12" x 12" square centered on the panel. There would be no direct access to the soric core. What would be your recommendation on how to infuse it.

Or, more directly, please see this thread, how would you infuse this part?

The laminate will be down into the recessed part of the mold, and have flanges ~3" wide all along the raised part of the mold. The recessed area will have a soric core. Where would you place the resin feed, where would you place the vacuum? Would you take a different approach if you were using MTI hose? Would you use infusion media?

There is no decent way to get resin to the Soric, so as an infusion medium it is disqualified.

In this case I would very probably just infuse from left to right, (or any other direction). This is a simple part. When using MTI hose you can place that on the infusion mesh, else you need a brake zone (2" of peelply between mesh and vacuum line.
