something simple I had a hand in making

completely composite, including the spring. It came out fairly well, for the most part everyone is pleased with it for the first run. The process leaves the surface for the most part void free without needing a clearcoat. I think it could still use some improvement in the trimming process and surface quality.

I’ll try to get some more pics of the pieces before trimming assembly etc.

cool, looks good! I remember you talking about this a year ago. turned out nice! Whats it used for?

PLEASE explain how…I always break my belt clip for my insulin pump…i wanted to make a new one, but never really figure out how.

It’s just a money clip in a few different styles. They’ll probably be a few related items in the future. The actual product I’m not all that interested in, designing was fun (sourcing stuff and shops was not). What I’m interested in is nailing down the process. Being able to get good quality without a lot of fuss.

What do you have trouble with?

I dunno what your pump looks like, but I had a welder break a thin plastic tab on her TIG pedal last week. I sanded it, cleaned it with acetone, laid and resined piece of unidirectional fabric on either side of the flat surfaces, then clamped it flat with bits of wood.

I can say that this fix is bombproof. Maybe you could do something similar for yourself? Or maybe be proactive and reinforce the clip before it breaks?

I dont have it anymore, but it was where the pin for the clip went through the case. Think of a small rounded tab, where the hinge pin was inserted…maybe only 2mm of material around the pin hole. I should have been able to add some epoxy and filler to redo it, but it took so long, i gave up.

Beautiful piece of work.
