some of our cars and buildups (say no to 56k!)

well, its been a while since ive been on here so i thought this would be apropriate for this section, this is one of the htings we have been working on =)

and coz im feeling picture happy, these are a few of our other sponsor cars… the blue one took out Drift Australia last year, and the yellow one, she ranked fourth in DA. The driver of the pink one is currently in japan, he got invited over for D1 Street class. how awesome is that !

And this was our latest project… =)

on a side note, that carbon scoop on the 34 came out absoloutley beautiful when we cracked it, ive got a photo of it fresh out of the mould and the shine on it was nuts! very glossy. im not sure where the pic is, ill have to find it.
anyways its getting way late (or early, its going to be 4.30am soon) and i have work tomorow… take it easy everyone!

Keni =^.^=

That’s really nice work man. Thumbs up!

can you show more pics of that bumper mold like from the side and how you did you flanges?

Kool cars, but some one put the steering wheels on the wrong side…LOL

lol! yours is on the wrong side! i dont know howd id go driving your guys manual cars… itd be so backwards!! =)

dual twill the front bar mould is a 3 peice mould… really basic with the join lines basically right on the edge, easier for finishing and that way the piece stays glossy and shiny beacuse there is no repairs for join lines, you dont even see them.
really basic mould… the mould for the yellow cars front bar was much harder to make!! lol.
anything else you wanna know, just ask.

the front bar for the yellow car took us a few months to make from scratch… and the gaurds on the blue one were from scratch as well, first widebodied conversion gaurds in aus… the front of that car is an s15 silvia and the rear is a 180sx (s13), starting to become quite a popular conversion now.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, you were very smart in making the all the draft (not the beer type…) angles to allow the main front of the air dam to be one piece and the flanges the fender well flat for stiffeners!

Awesome work…but I would have to agree, with me driving one of your cars, where you are located would kill all involved!

I guess England, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the like are for left handers?:D:rolleyes:

oh by the way, those volk TE37’s are sexy :)!

nice work! Very nice cars!

since you are into “drifting” here is an “agri” drifting video, enjoy

lol lol lol!
thats awesome, haha.

and yes - te37s are very sexy!!!

i was very happy to see, one of our cars got cover and feature in the new drift battle magazine, and he plugged the shit outta us, which was great. the blue one. for taking out the series last year. and the yellow one was cover of another one recently too. Quite rewarding after all the hard work!

i used to have a pair of 18 inch bronze TE37’s back in 2000 on my civic si. Damn I miss those wheels

Sorry to bump such an old thread but do you think you can give me/us a little more info on how you made this? Im really interested in making a fibreglass copy of a front bumper that my friend has but have never really experienced something that is as large as this, usually just small pieces.

Do you just start of by reinforcing the original bumper so that there is no flexing in the bumper when you start working on it/moving it around?

Then comes all the release agent spray/wax and the gelcoat? Afterwards I assume its just lay out the fibreglass on as usual with a few good layers and just wait for it to cure? How did you manage to get the original bumper to come out of it after that though? it seems like there are flanges that wrap right around.

Oh well, if you can give us a litle more of a run down on this it will be great!!

Hell Im glad you bumped this…

Id love to see a tutorial about making the scratch mock up.

Looks like it was a couple bumpers carved up and sectioned together.

Would be a great article for everyone to see a bumper made from scratch.

yes, weve done that aswell. the bar on the yellow car came from a bar for the r33 skyline that we made 100% from scratch. i think because of that it is the most perfect bar we ever made…mathematically etc etc. however the time it took to build, shit. lol.
the bar isnt actually flanged all around however in the future we plan too, because the edges of the mould can get slightly damaged during green trimming (depends what stage its at and how rough you have to be, or from buildup of exess that has to be chipped off) so our flanges are only on the join lines in that mould in the picture.

usually because plugs are built from… hmm. how do i explain it. because they have been, say, chopped and rejoined and worked on etc they are usually pretty strong, the wood is so it doesnt change shapeit is meausred to the aize of the car so just in case in the moulding process it changed shape,or sitting upside down the sides bow out,or, basicaly its just to combat any problems that like to come our way.

the part comes out once the end caps come off, you just pull it straight upwards.

the plug is painted in 2k solid, then given coats of semi permanent, and the flanges are given coats of PVA. i spray my tooling because im a pedantic bitch and it has to be perfect
then tissue for the hard places, then initial layer, then the other layers are done.

sorry i didnt get to reply earlier ive been out of the country for the past 3 months

any other questions feel free to ask !!

you say you want to mould a stock bumper, meaning its plastic right?

also particularily with the red one we were rushing for a show and we had to mould the kit so the kit was painted in the colour it is now and we were EXTREMLEY careful with the moulding process, and the plugs were popped out, and put straight onto the car, those are the plugs in that picture. very pleased there was not one problem with the paint or any damage from the moulding process.

Welcome back Ms. “T”!

JM… now we are back from overseas i should be on more =)
good to be back!
