The only “Smart” Carbon Fiber Shin Guard in the world. Advanced Impact Absorption System (IAS) and Integrated Sensor Technology. Mach 3 Composites.
Sounds fancy, but what exactly does that translate to?
One model has imbedded sensors in between layers. The sensor can measure impact (number and intensity. We can also get distances, speed positions. The goal would be able to utilize various performance data for post game debrief. We used a similar concept in Tactical military aviation known as a TACTS (Tactical Aircrew Training System) range.
Posting an image seems to be one of my greater challenges in life. Oh well, the link works. You can see the USB connection in the image. The goal is to go to blue tooth.
We did that a few years ago for GDLS. embedded an entire circuit layer inside of a composite panel. Mostly accelerometers. Planned on adding antennas on the other side later, but the project was scrapped. Shockingly, the panel didn’t loose any properties with a flexible circuit interlayer!!!
