small white dots

hello

we are carbon fiber moto parts producer from europe and till now we never experience any problem that we couldnt resolve, but now we have a most serious problem. Our parts look normal in our shop but when u bring it out to the sun they look like xxxx,it look like someone shake the flour in first layer(small white spots in resin).we change the resin(new packaging) but still no progress.we are using mgs lr 285 resin and we hand lay up in open molds.

any proposal?

Contamination in the resin could be from many things. Expired ingredients used to make resin, contamination in the cloth or materials. I could go on and on. Have you changed any of your processes recently?

What’s your mold release? Are you using a surface coat?

Was the resin exposed to humidity. It could have cristallized.

If so just, before you use the resin, heat it up, the cristals will disolve and you are ready to go.

hi.first thx for reply…
No, we do by the same method for many years, but all the sudnt these happened…the first thin it got in my mind was resin problem we change resin and even change it to huntsman resin but same problem…and the intresting thing is that two of my friends all so have the same problems but the are both using diferent resin…I suspect moisture in the shop but I find it strange because the workshop is heated and there is a constant temperature

“What’s your mold release? Are you using a surface coat?”

*We use chemtrend pmr 90 for firs coats and then we use wurz wax for reducing mold slip and we dont use any surface coat like gel coat.

"Was the resin exposed to humidity. It could have cristallized.

*We are heating resin in daily.

Maybe it has something to do with your mold release then as TET stated. Is everyone in your shop using the same release agents?

well for open modls we use all the same but for comporess molding we use diferent one… ill try put some pva on one molt to see if these is the case…but it is interesting to me that co-operating firm uses a completely different release agent and diferent resin, but faces the same problems.
thx for hellp

maybe something air bourn landing in the mould between realease waxing and lay-up?

Not polishing all the wax from the mould or a very high buildup of wax on the mould surface? is the mould used a lot? is this problem that your having happening on just one mould or every mould in your shop?

Hello. The problem occurs on all new molds also the old ones., … So far the cause remains unknown

Moisture on the dry cloth, before the resin is added? Do you have a way of measuring the moisture in the air?

Hello!
Can it be small dots of crystallized epoxy due to low temp somewhere in the process? has happened to me once or twice. Can you see any dots in the uncured base or hardener?

air in the laminate?

yes i have a moisture meter… i have 22-25°c and 50-55 %moisture in the air…

the air bubbles acure in the uncured resin but i heated it and they disappear…

yes it look like air in the laminat,…any idea how to get rid of it?

hello guys thx for help
I get rid of the bubbles.I only change heat gun which was used for heating epoxy between laminating which we changed when we broke Previous
Probably a major factor remains low temperatures and high humidity atmosphere.

thank again for help and your time!
