Silicone molds

I thought I read something on here about using silicone as a mold but I could be wrong.

But my question is can you infuse using a silicone mold? Let’s say I’m looking at smooth on silicone at different density.

If I make a box to pour the silicone in and keep its form, and afterwards I’ll use that box to keep the shape of the silicone. I also plan to envelope the bag since I would think equal pressure would keep its shape not distorting anything?

Or would I also need to add some type of blatter or silicone insert to keep things from caving in? Or would my three sides box be enough since theoretically the pressure would be coming from all sides since its envelope bagged but really only the top is getting pressure since the box is holding its shape

Yep sounds like it would work fine.

Here is an old video of a 2 peice wing mould.

Awesome thanks man.

I’m currently shopping around for pourable material for this project. There’s a few options and honestly I’m still unfamiliar with this idea I’ll ask for any experience. Without taking under consideration the thickness of some points being 1-4 inches thick does anyone have recommendations on which hardness to try? I have the option of durameter shore 60A or shore 80A
