Hey guys. I know this isn’t a molding forum but I’m messing with a two piece silicone mold soon and was hoping to use either wax/pva to make both sides or maybe my frekote 770nc. Has anyone used or have advice for making a two piece silicone mold? To be clear I just didn’t want to buy a dedicated release agent to make this mold because it’s small, I never plan on using silicone as a mold material again and thought there has to be something else to use.
Just use petroleum jelly (vasoline). Super cheap and can just be bought at a super market. Will work better than anything else.
Silicone isn’t going to stick to anything but itself, glass, and porous substrates. So you only need to apply the petroleum jelly to the exposed silicone when you do your second half of the mould, and you can just smear it on thinly.
