Okay, ive been reading here lately that there is a shortage on carbon fiber. Ive noticed prices rising, but how bad is it actually? Is it going to get to the point where you cant get ANY?
Try calling a local supplier…as what may be cheaper and more available here, might be not where you are…
it is going to get worse before it will get better. Austria is importing 500 containers of composites for the domestic market but most of the stuff already here and in production is for the military and larger companies like raython and such get first dibs.
what are we suppose to do? Alot of us make a living from composites. Seems like the companies that manufaacture it would grow and produce more.
the manufacturers don’t seem to view this as a long term ongoing problem. If they did this would have been remedied a long time before it became such a problem. It will get worse before it ever gets better.
what sucks about it overseas manufacturing can keep their same prices or maybe go up a little while we get the huge price increases

I have heard that most carbon fiber cloth is made overseas anyway…?

I’ve got the same problem in the UK.
I buy material direct from a weaver & still can’t get some types as they are just not holding slow selling lines at the moment .
Can’t get 1.5m wide (60") carbon even if I want 100m at a time :roll:
has any body tried buying full roll of twill carbon if so problems would probably like to know where
how many of you are earning a living with this material lucky for me it is a very small part of my buissnes

found 5 rolls in canada so far
I have heard one of the reason is because of the construction of the new Airbus planem they uses up almost all the carbonfiber in the world during these process. I got the last roll of 2 x 2 twill CF here in Norway.
buy all 5 rolls x how much =??? :shock:

awesome price though i couldent afford it i use about 5 yards a month to much money for me to have sitting around to get damaged are you interested in selling some of your v weave?
I don’t have much left, I am still tring to find a supplier, when I do I will order a roll then sell from that
I’ll swap a roll (older but still in great condition) of 17 oz. Kevlar for one of those carbon rolls if you do buy all of them? I’ll pay shipping for both ways too! It will be for my classroom…
