Semi-new member in Canada

This is more of a test post, I registered over a month ago in March and confirmed everything and have submitted several posts that have not shown up. I will post more info if I finally have a functional account.

Wow, hurray, I was getting tired of typing posts that never appeared.
Brief background, in the late '80’s I was chasing my dreams of getting into F1 and got as far as working for March Composites (Comtec) on the Porsche 90P Indy Car. It was to be the first all carbon chassis for an Indy car, but the rule makers (i.e. the other team owners) required it to have an aluminum skin added to the bottom half of the tub and it was quite a bit heavier than intended. Not surprisingly all carbon chassis were allowed the next year when they all had one. More info on the car here; http://8w.forix.com/march90p.html and on March here; http://www.marchives.com

Fast forward half my life and I have found my way off the corporate treadmill and come up with a lot more free time, hence the user name. I am hoping to utilize the skills I learned at Comtec to make some parts for my own projects and maybe others. All the work I did over there was pre-preg, infusion is new to me but probably a lot more cost effective for small jobs. There is a lot of useful info on here and I hope to have some projects to share at some point.

I typed 2 more posts after the one above showed up right away and nothing is there 24 hrs later, is this normal for this forum? Is there a character limit?

Are there any moderators on here besides Canyon? Most of my posts say they won’t be visible until a moderator approves them, which never happens. I get no reply from him through the forum email address either.

It appears that posting a link in your first 5 posts prevents them from appearing “until approved by a moderator”. Hopefully this doesn’t happen or there will be a bunch of retroactive repeat posts appearing. I have now posted a proper introduction here; http://www.compositescentral.com/showthread.php?t=10663
