Semi - complicated mold

This is a female mold with 2 inch flange around it. I use yellow because it helps me see the flaws more easily than black i guess. I’m going to start using orange instead once the yellow is used up.

This is a mold for the bottom half of a Honda sportbike solo seat cowl. The original part was also two pieces… a top, and a bottom.
I’ve finished the top mold about a month ago. I just now got around to molding the bottom. As you can see it still needs the flange trimmed and sanded smooth. The black arrows are actually pockets, or cavities in the mold. Pictures can be decieving sometimes so i wanted to point that out.

Also the lumpiness of the mold doesn’t matter too much as this isn’t cosmetic, it’s structural.

Here is the top mold. Both molds are used seperately, but the finished parts they produce are trimmed then glued together to form one assembled part. So i guess saying it’s a two piece part is the right way to say it.

After both parts are glued together the bottom will be painted flat black to hide the not so perfect looking underside. What is most important about the bottom mold and part is that the holes are in the proper location to place threaded bolts into the holes… the bolts drop in and then get laminated into the part, same with the rear latch. It too will more than likely be metal and you can see a cavity in the mold that holds the metal latch during the lay up process.
