SEM bonding adhesives

A guy who owns a bodyshop next door uses this stuff…

I am probably going to buy the Panel Bonding Adhesive for joining cf panels, doing repairs to frp parts, and bonding on metal tabs to the backside of our carbon fiber parts.
It’s way less expensive than Loctite brand comercial adhesives. $30 for a 7oz tube set. The bodyshop guy said if you buy enough of the SEM stuff they give you the dispensing gun. He got his thru an auto paint supplier locally.

look in to buying pails instead of tubes. tubes are grossly overpriced, the pails will give you a huge discount.

Dumb question but how do you use the material when it’s in bucket? Does SEM give you a refillable cartridge and gun?

premix it then put in to a pastry bag. Im sure you can buy empty cartridges as well if you prefered that method.

Nothing good is cheap, and cheap stuff is never good.

With adhesives, the properties are rather important. Even if it’s for cosmetic crap, you don’t want customers complaing about mounting tabs peeling off.

SEM has a bonding product for SMC or FRP… don’t recall what they said. I like to destructive test stuff anyways lol.

I would have to say the crap at the hardware store, and big box stores ( epoxy glue) is junk and cheap for a reason.
