sealed vacuumed laminating room

I want to design a room about 10x10 in my shop just for laminating. What i’d love to do is have some kind of perferated flooring and a dust collector or an industrial vac of some kind to keep the air moving, and the dust on the ground. since summer is coming I also want to have some kind of ventilation without having moving air. it doesn’t sound possible, but that’s what i want. the other option for cooling is a small vent on top so the air can move through, BUT, I don’t want to allow air from the outside in because sometimes the dust from the production line gets blown over to my area, which is the biggest reason for making a sealed lam, sanding, cutting booth, and eating room.

I’m don’t have a very sanitary or healthy working environment, but i’m trying to fix that on a budget. any suggestions for the laminating room or in general layout for a 30x30 shop?

you shouldn’t have any dust while laminating

tearing up the mat, mixing the caposil, applying the cotton flok…

oh, you use that stuff

Surfboard shops use sand on the floor and if you drip, it clumps up.

and, good idea, then i don’t have to sweep, just clean out the “cat pan” every day or two.

I liked the idea of a spread out area of air vents for a dust collector on the floor though, because, 1. that’s where it’ll end up, 2, it keeps it down away from eyes and face, and 3 cause i think it would be cool. BUT, i live without # 3 and go for practical, seems like i might have to anyway.

Jeremy,

Look into woodworking dust collection systems. Wynn Environmental can probably point you to a setup that will meet your needs…

Be forewarned that you need to be VERY specific about location and size of any vent/ports because distance and size has a direct impact on air flow and system sizing.
