Hy everyone,
Maybe someone already use this to replace the sealant tape but if not here`s what i use for vacuum infusion. Instead of sealant tape (i find it too sticky and hard to work with and also expensive), i used a kind of putty designed to be placed between body component for car repair. Is cheap (1 euro 4 meters), is reusable and , above all, is easier to work with. Less sticky than sealant tape, need to be pushed well against mold but work well. You can make pleats wit ease and it proved to be air tight. I dont know if if works for parts destined to be oven cured. Here i find this thing at my local car parts shop.
Best regards.
Interesting.
Could you tell product name?
Regards
Hello,
heres some photo
s of the sealant. Works well for me and i like it because is not so sticky an above all is reusable.
Best Regards
3M 4578 or so is about the same. I did not like it though, too many failures. I hope this one is better.
You must be microchip lab clean to be able to reuse it and not get carbon or glass in it. A single fibre and your bag is fooked
Well, it works well for me. Yes some times fiberglass fiber stick to putty but i remove that bit and go on. I already use this thing at least 20 times and works well. It needs to be pushed hard against mold but that s all. The largest item infused was a car hood and nor give me any problem. Just try something similar if you have a small project and you see is working.
