Scissors or cutter?

Hi guys, I’m looking to buy a new cutter for kevlar use. My issue has been any pair of scissors i have used dull out after cutting about 5 ft of kevlar. I’ve been using Fiskars Titanium, Fiskars nitride coated, Fiskars Razor Edge, and they all dull after cutting several feet.

Can someone recomend a good scissor or cutter that stays sharp and cuts a lot of kevlar ( 5oz weight aramid )?

I haven’t cut 15 feet of kevlar yet but I have some Wiss fabric shears and they’ve been working well.

Robuso aramide scissors. Both in manual, air and power driven.

Bosch make something called a XEO cordless cutter. Its a damn good self sharpening rotary cutter. Cheap too.

Not the best for kevlar but super cheep. Go to Lowes or Home Depot and get a handful of small cordless rotary cutters. I have tried nearly every cutter out there from the common hand wheel cutter to the industrial ones used in textile industries. All get dull, all get ruined by carbon dust, all cut material (thickness varies). Hands down best deal out there is these sub 40$ cordless cutters. We use them on airplanes! They can’t be that bad lol. I use them in my own shop and if one breaks down, I grab the blade off it, toss it, and get another out of the cabinet. I do have a pare of toothed airtechs for kevlar is the rotary can’t get through it.

www.jaeberly.com go there, has many scissors for both cheap and expensive. Also you can use EC-cutters but keep one blade for cutting kevlar only. It goes for any scissor actually, only use it to cut Kevlar, as soon as you cut another material it wont cut kevlar good

Check out Finny TecX made by Kretzer, they are great but expensive.

I read a lot of people have good luck using scissors with the blades filed flat. Google “Phil Barnes Kevlar Scissors”.

[FONT=Helvetica][SIZE=2]I have a pair of normal laminating shears I have ground to cut kevla rfor thin cloth it works well but you do need to touch the edges up regularly also regularly use a 1200grm Quadraxial/Aramid hybrid which they will cut but it makes for hard work.
