I need to get some small parts trimmed. The parts are about 3x3x.5in with cad files. Does anyone know of a shop with a cnc router willing to take on a job?
Those are very small parts and may be difficult to hold.
Are these flat pieces or 3d? Waterjet may be the best option.
they’re 3d, designed to be held fairly easily with just some rectangles cut out of a sheet of hdpe, then placed over the parts. I’ve started the process of quoting with some routing companies, they think it would be best to machine fixtures that resemble the mold and use gaskets to get a vacuum seal.
That’s pretty much what we do for some parts that have large flat areas. A fixture is machined in the same shape as the mold, and a grid of channels is made for an air path. The perimeter has a soft gasket, and it seals well when clean. I’ll try to get some pics of that when we’re using one again.
