rolled edge on hood or comparable part?

How do you guys out there making hoods go about rolling the edge? I have seen some sheisty carbon hoods out there that have wavy and uneven sharp edges and wonder how the guys that make them look good do it?

you can do it one of two ways,
1- overlay the hood once out of the mold and bonded. Thats how I’ve heard the other mfg’s do it that advertize the “rolled edge”

2- make the mold have a rolled edge, (you have to use very little fairing putty or plasticine so that it doesnt come up too high) This gives the elusion that the top skin is thicker and so the the frame section fits into it nicely.
then trim the frame section so that you have 1/8" gap all the way around under the top skin. Then fill that 1/8" space with resin or silicone like they do from the factory. This is how I do my trunk lids btw.

interesting…

for option #1 do you mean bond on another peice for the edge?

and for option 2, do you have any pics, i’m finding it hard to visualize this method…

he is meaning most hood companies make a fiberglass hood then overlay it with carbon. In the overlaying process they make a rolled edge then they clear coat it
