reuseable vac bag

Does anyone have experience with or know anything of the reuseable vacuum bag from arctek?

http://www.arctekinfusion.com/

I have used this product.
It is tricky to use and the odor is very strong.
If you don’t use a good respirator you will most likely be dead in a few hours or brain dead.
DO NOT use this in an enclosed area even with a respirator.
If you don’t have air flowing through the area seriously consider a different product.
I heard there was one similar to this with no smell.
I was successful with all 4 bags I made, but it is tricky to get it right the first time.
I would recommend you try to cover a small throw away part first.
The trick is in getting the many layers you will apply to be the same or similar thicknesses.
Thin spots will tear when you try to remove the bag from the mold/plug after making the bag.

snocutt, also try checking out www.bondlineproducts.com (I have a couple of flat plate ones in the classroom) as they have a video tape and here’s another one too from the Sampe show: www.torrtech.com

Here’s another: SWORL
www.sworl.net

It’s a sprayable silicone bag system with low odor.

I’ve heard of only bad things about spray-ons. Even from the people that make it.
I don’t recognize THAT company though…

im looking to find ANYTHING to make production faster and cheaper! I get about 1 out of 10 parts that leak via hole in the bag or seal leak. So it could pay for itself in screwed up parts

I talked with the president of this company and got some more information. I am thinking about trying these! This sounds like the best option for me!

P.S. — Larry says thanks for letting us know about his company

I’m probably going to look into sworl more as well.

it is not cheap by any means to get into this! which kinda sucks. It is $600 for 5 gallons of it and it will only cover about 35 sqft per 5 gallons

Don’t forget to DROP this forum name to anyone in the industry…

Also there is www.actr.com too as I talked them at the Sampe trade show.

You might also could use latex, silicone or PUR mold casting rubber with a layer of nylon netting in the center for reinforcement…

How much is the spray equip. or can it be sprayed with a gelcoat dump gun?

the spray equipment is hella expensive, but the sworl stuff he said you can use a bondo scrapper to put it on

The Sworl attracted me only because of the potential to spray it on.
I wasn’t impressed with the brush on method of the Arctek, but it works.
I would be interested to see a picture of the bag if you try the stuff.

i think I will order everything here soon. the spray equipment is over $5,000 OUCH!!!

DT, you might want to check out BJB Ent. in Tustin, Calif. before committing to that…

Ha…I guess he owes me lol. Yeah Larry is a good guy to work with for sure. They were doing demos at IBEX, or he says you can come to his place near Austin, TX for a free hands-on seminar.

We made a good sized bag using the bondo spreader method. It’s not a horrible method, but spraying would be the best way to go if you were going to make a bunch of them, or some really large ones.

bondo scrapper for me, not looking to get the equipment. He was also willing to send someone to me here in Idaho and show me how to do it because I will be doing over 100 molds!

Hello Guys, it is so happy to see that sworl is catching more eyes on. I am in China for SWORL business, pls contact me if you have any projects here requiring such good technology. Cheers
Robert
