local boat factory i used to work at (wife curently works at)had a resin tank explode this thing is about 15 foot wide and 18 foot tall 1/2 in steel wife tells me it looks like some one used a can opener on it they used nitrous in the tank to hold down the styrene build up the gauges had been rumered to be not working luckly it riped on the top and not the bottom could you imagine that spill!!!
I had an adult student get knocked down (unhurt) when he went to open a 55 gallon drum of either acetone or polyester resin and it imploded! It was many years ago and I’m not sure if he shook the drum first and then when he loose and remove the bung cap, it “popped” on him…
I now only open any drum myself…crack it and let the pressure equal out…
i have heard of one doing that too, a drum that is, I vent it out as well
