Just purchased this 2.5 quart pressure cooker from Kmart for $40 and am converting it to resin degasser mixer combo. I hate foaming over and degassing in separate batches, then degas your combined after. Figured this could save some time and headache. So far pulles down to -26 in up here at an 4500 ft elevation which seems good. Turn off the pump and hear leaking. The more I use it drops rubber from the shaft seal and seems to leak more. Anyone have a good reliable fix for this shaft leak? Can it be done? The hole in the top will be a lexan observation hole. I’ll probably put another one with an led flashlight.
If I’m reading this correctly, your mixers seal is made of rubber ? If so, that will need to be changed out with something more resistant to vapors associated with styrenes, resins etc such as Viton or at least Nitrile.
But even then, I’d back the shaft performance up with at lease a bronze bushing or a nice upper and lower bearing set.
The less your shaft moves-9Via bearing centering and low friction), the better your seals will last and the higher vacuum integrity you’ll reach and maintain.
