Remove epoxy air bubbles help

Hi guys I’m using the west epoxy resin for some skinning projects, iv tryed the heat gun on the resin before and after its a plied bit it’s not working that great, anything else I can try?

Cheers

If you are asking as to remove the air bubbles, once I tried to spray some ammonia on the epoxy, and the result was quite good

Acetone can work too. Just a small amount to break the surface tension.

Yes, I also applied some acetone and it worked very well

I haven’t tried it personally, but I suspect dry hydrogen (commonly called dry air blanket) would work well too and possibly be better than acetone or anything that will react with the resin.

A small propane torch will instantly pop bubbles. Just wave it over the surface of the bubble. Guys that make cast tables and bars use this method.

I’m having a helluva time with bubbles too…I blast my project with a heat gun, it pops some but not all bubbles, and I’m afraid to keep it too long under heat and shorch the epoxy.

I will try the torch next. Do you let the flame contact the epoxy or no? Might be a dumb question but I would guess no myself…

Yes, touching the surface doesn’t do anything to the epoxy (as far as I can tell) as long as the flame is moving.

Awesome, gave it a shot yesterday aft and the results were quite a bit better than the heat gun…thanks!
