remind me!

hi guys, been a couple of years since i did any carbon but have been asked to do some overlays…i can remember most of it but ive forgotten how i use the wax additive for my last layer of resin??
how much/how??
thanks

The wax creates a protective barrier from air and allows the resin to cure fully, reducing or eliminating that half cured sticky feeling and instead allows for that more solid smooth feeling.

I believe you add one oz of wax additive for every quart of resin. However with composites I’d say it’s best to check with your manufacturer since every product is slight different.

ok so it says add 2% by weight…im using 150cc of resin and my syringe is measuring in ML… so how many ML do i add??? 3ML i think?

Not exactly…
What you’re measuring is volume. Without the density of the resin and the wax it’s anyone’s say how many mls of each you need. Does the manufacturer of your resin say what the volume ratio is? If not you might be better off buying a small digital scale and using that to get the correct measurement

you really dont need to use wax. after your last laer of resin you should sand down and clear coat it. the surface will only gum the sand paper a little if at all. No reason to make things more complicated with using a wax.

well i added 3ml and seems to have worked out ok.have clear coated it but still needs final sanding and buff.
