Release agent

Does PVA only work for PER and VER? Won’t work for lay ups using Epoxy?

What is best to use as a release agent/s when laying up with epoxy?

Thanks

PVA will work with PER/VER/epoxy. Its a time adding expense. But it provide a bit of protection from user error.

Semi Permanant release agents are awesome if you follow the directions to the T. They can save quite a bit of time.

Wax is the standard and has been for a long time.

Any of these will work.

Thanks  I may will try them both.

Tried PVA once…wont be using it again, as properly applied wax is a lot less trouble, and final finish on parts is also better.

Just a quick word on semi-perms… they ARE very effective, but be advised that they can be almost too effective the first part or two. At least that was my experience with Frekote, using Frekote cleaner, sealer and WOLO. Gelcoat pre-released during cure, even with a layer of veil and a layer of 1.5oz mat on top of it. After the second attempt, it settled down and worked like a dream.
Frekote makes a semi-perm more specifically for use with epoxies, too. NC-77, I think it is.

Best of luck!

Semi perm. mold releases are only used for the molds.

The first few parts actually heat cure the chemicials into the mold to work properly.
