Re-recording on DVD-RWs

I got a DVD recorder for Christmas. Every week I record my favorite TV shows onto a DVD-RW disc. I delete the shows and record over it again. After 2 or 3 re-recordings the player will say “disc full” after I have deleted the shows. I have tried several DVD-RWs and even a different brand, but always the same problem. With VHS tape I could re-record over and over on the same tape. Do DVD-RWs have a limit to how many times you can re-record? Is there a different type of DVD I should be using? Thanx.

We love our DirecTv with Tivo…records everything we want, even when they change time slots and no discs are needed as they use Hard Drives, unless you want to keep a program then it is easy to record to a DVD disc for you to keep. They are less than .20 each in bulk.

We also have a DVR in the bedroom for the wife’s soaps…but the Tivo rocks for the added $5 per month!
