I can’t share close up pics yet because we are still in the testing phase so here is the first video of the concept model. It’s a 90 size electric helicopter. One thing you can’t tell from the video is the blades and chassis are carbon. I wish I could share more now but those dang NDA’s…

thats crazy! nice work!
Interesting flight path. The pilot must be drunk or extremely talented. Or both lol
Looking forward to the close ups!
cool roto. how big is that thing? can you fly em like that?
I understand the function and physics of helicopter flight, but WHAT THE FLYING MONKEY SHEISSE IS THAT!!! How…in the world…is that possible. While you can have a functioning system TO to that, just being able to control the thing…holy…
Then again, kids these days and their stuff…
Thanks!
It’s big as a full grown man. If you stand it up on the tail the tip of the main blade will be at the top of your head.
I can fly 3D but I’m not that good at flying. :o That’s why I’m not one of the test pilots.
Riff - Basically if you allow the swash plate to move in the opposite direction of positive pitch you create the negative pitch which makes these fly so wild. The blades are symmetrical so they can provide the same lift with positive or negative pitch.
I’m just talking about the skill to control something moving so fast with such control!! I’m guessing the video was a “let’s see what it takes to kill this xxxxxx” test?
There’s a whole competition for flying RC heli’s in these quick and precise fashion. My old roomate used to do it and they have moves like vertical 360 and Tick Tock (Moving the heli back and forth like a pendulum)
He said it’s quite competitive, also expensive to get into 1500+ for each helicopter, not counting upgrades and crashes.
what is it powered by? sounds mean, I don’t think the bug light on my porch would deter it
Like Canyon said there are lots of competitions all over the world for these heli’s. They call the flying style “3D”. I should add that the headspeed was tunned down so there is alot more power on tap that isn’t shown.
Tom it’s powered by lipo batterys and a brushless motor that’s about the size of a pop can and has enough torque to rip your arm off.
Here is the latest video just uploaded last night. [ame=“http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heRRvYdvitI”]AleeS Prototype testing - YouTube[/ame]
These things are mean, high torque electric motors with instant reversal. My old roommate that some guys who weren’t careful have had their fingers lopped off.
They are just button mashing the controller aren’t they? Hell, when I was that kid’s age, I was crashing every RC thing I got :-/
Uuuugh, the stresses on that chassis!! I hear the tail boom crying in pain
there is a big RC airport very close to me. when I need a break from the maddness I hop on my dualsport go over and watch. some very cool stuff, from helo’s to giants, & jets
I was contemplating a begginer unit 250 class for when i wanted to take a short break from composite work. Need something to break up the daily grind.
A professor at my school managed to get a huge RC helicopter costing 200k! The thing is absolutely massive. Maybe you should consider an upgrade Rotorage
I’d like to see a fpv of the flight. It would be worse than a roller coaster. Lol.
Canyon those Yamaha’s are HUGE! With a 60lbs payload it makes you wonder, what are all the things that have been attached to the bottom, especially since you guys got it from Northrop Grumman.
Here is a close up sneak peak

One of the possible canopy designs.
Dude, thats freeking awesome! How did the mouse come out after the ride?
Lol
