recent project using the wet layup/fill/sand/clear process . im noticing the populatity of vacuum infusion and i may try that next
Looks good. you can also use a clear gelcoat to get a nice finish out of the mold, but doing infusion will have a lighter part with a nice finish, but requires about twice the time in setup comparable to open molding
Looks very good:cool: I have been wanting to get into flying RC helicopters actually. How much $ does a beginner set up kit cost?
I’ve got an RC field about one mile from my home. it is 1/2 sq mile field. I see the guys there all the time flying. I’ve also got a vacant park by me that is a water resevoir for when it rains, that is 3/4 mile long x 1/4 mile wide, open with no people.
I infuse all the parts I make, it does require extra set up time. Also in the beggining expect to have a few bad parts until you get the set up perfected.
thanks for the thumbs up guys.
Fastrr, this is a good heli to start with to see if its a hobby you want to persue http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=EFLH1105
also see if you can find a local hobbyshop that carries this one or one similar and stocks replacement parts.you can practice hovering in any 20’X20’ space. so you dont need the feild right away
consider yourself forwarned though, they are difficult to fly, addicting, and can get expensive. but just like composites, winning after a couple good but kickings makes it sweet
$200 and it’s already assembled… can’t beat that. I may buy one in a month or so, give it a go. I won’t feel as bad if i crash it, compared to the more expensive gas powered rc helicopters out there. Thanks
Stay away from heli’s with a separate tail motor! Trust me, you’ll hate it after several battery packs. The performance of the main and tail motors will be different on each flight, and you’ll constantly be fighting with trim adjustments instead of flying.
Spend a little more at first, and it will pay off. Something with a belt drive tail will actually be easier to learn on, easier to fly, and be able to do more advanced maneuvers when you get better.
i somewhat agree with what your saying but this gives him the ability to see if this is something he wants to pursue for very little money.if not hes only out a couple hundred bucks. if he decides to go forward then he can shell out $1000.00 for a decent peice. i started out with this heli 2 years ago and 20,000 dollars 6 helis later i still beleive it was a good place to start.
