Racing car diffuser

Here is my latest part.
A rear diffuser for 7-type kitcars.
It needs trimming, bonding of the vertical strakes and polishing.

Very clean surface! Nice work

beautiful work man keep it up
Beaudacious

wow that looks gorgeous. Nice job!!

Nice looking part, any pics of it on the car?

Did you happen to use any core for this? Looks great!

Thanks for the nice words.
The diffuser is not yet ready. I am now making the vertical strakes and they then need bonding on the surface.
I didn’t use any core, but next time i will use perhaps 2 more layers (i used 3 layers of 200gsm carbon and 2 layers of 300gsm fiberglass this time) because it is a bit more flexible than i would like it to be.

what type of resin did you use?

I used epoxy resin.

what are you gonna use to bond the diffuser strakes on?

3M Scotch-Weld DP490.
Really strong adhesive.

is it epoxy based or methacrylate
just wondering because ive always been told to only use epoxy adhesive on epoxy layup and methacrylate on vinylester and isophthalic layup

It is epoxy based.
Take a look here for full data.

Strakes bonded…

Very Nice work! how much in Materials do you guesstimate you have spent?

I have not calculated the materials’ cost but i know that it needs a hell lot of work to get a good and clean result, especially the bonding work.

Nice work Echidna
Post pics when you will installed.

Nice job man! For your car or for a client?

Thanks, that was for a client.
I will post pics as soon as it is installed on the car.

Awesome! What kind of car I’d that going on?
