Questions on new project

I used this board last year to gather the information I needed to complete my first CF project which was to cover the frame on my CBR using 6k twill and POLYESTER RESIN which by the way came out nicely (see attached pictures). So nicely in fact that I have a buddy that wants me to do the same with his fuel tank. It is a metal tank and I plan on doing an overlay like I did with my frame. My question to you guys is being that this piece may be exposed to more sunlight and heat would it be better to use EPOXY RESIN and if so what if any differences are there in the application and can you point me to any How To threads.

Thanks,
FX

One negative of using epoxy for outdoor applications is it’s lack of UV resistance. There are a few epoxy products made with UV inhibitors, but a UV clearcoat is still recommended for continuous outdoor exposure. Epoxy will generally yellow and then begin to haze and turn white over long periods of direct sunlight exposure.

Vinylester resin is probably better suited for your application and has similar handling and processing properties to the polyester resin you’ve already used.
