Quality Carbon?

How to distinguish between low quality & high quality carbon?
Who makes the highest quality fibers?

Depends on what you are looking for, (high strength or high stiffness) and the size of your wallet.

I am looking for high strength & stiffness, mainly going to be used for automotive parts and furniture. Would still like highest quality materials available, perfection is what I am aiming for.
Thank you.

If you’re making regular products you won’t need the aerospace grade carbon used in planes, rockets etc. Pretty much any run of the mill carbon will work.

T700S from Toray is a good fibre for both strength and stiffness and is common enough to be a good price. www.toraycfa.com

34-700 from Grafil is about the same. http://www.grafil.com/

M60J is an ultra high modulus fibre with an ultra high price.
T1000s is an ultra high strength fibre also with an ultra high price.

However if you are using prepreg the different companies only use certain fibres, eg: Newport use Grafil as they are both owned by Mitsubishi

Anyway to tell the difference between the fabric?

Thank you. anyway of purchasing through them small amounts?

Textile Products Inc in Anaheim sells a lot of fabric styles from made from Toray fibers and Grafil too I believe. They sell in small quantities and their customer service, packaging and documentation is top notch. I expected to get treated like crap because I was only getting 300 dollars worth of fabric but that wasn’t the case at all.

Great site, Thank you.
Do most orders come with documentation from where the carbon is manufactured?

If I remember correctly the label they put on the box lists all the relevant details for that roll, including date of manufacturer, and lot number. I’m sure you can call and request this information if needed. Kevin Gearin, the president of the company, has helped me when his sales staff was out on lunch. I expect they’d give you the same level of service.

Thanks again.
