Q on balanced layups with a cosmetic layer

If I use a thinner cosmetic layer and then thicker layers after that, will that affect the balanced/symmetric layer? Say I want to do a cosmetic V-pattern down the middle of a hood but not necessarily on the underside. Obviously, the goal is to avoid warpage. Thanks!

See the other thread here at the mo on this exact thing.
Ideally it would be balanced or you do risk tolerance deviations, however, in summary, it depends on many things, a few key ones of which are:
How asymetrical and unbalanced it is
Thickness
Presence of a core
Curing temperature and resin used
Acceptable level of deformation

Are you just doing a low temp cure with the hood? I would guess it will probably be fine to be honest if its a typical hood lay-up

Thanks. I’ve been reading the other threads but didn’t want to hijack them. I would like to post cure but space is limited for an oven that large.

Also not entirely sure how thick my mold should be if I use ver or epoxy. I’ve only made molds with poly and csm so far.
