PVA with semi-perm mold release....can I use them both?

Since Evan isn’t here right now…
Does anyone know if I can use PVA in conjunction with Icancomposite’s semi-perm mold release?
I have a plastic part from a motorcycle, but I needed an easy way to fill some holes, so I used packing tape. So i need some way to fill in the gaps, and the stickside of the tape (just say ok, ok?) with a mold release.
So can I fill the holes with pva, and then wipe on the semi-mold release?

oi.

The semi permament is to be used on the manufacturing mold, not the plug…

btw: i just cut some tape carefully and just used the semi-perm…part came out perfect, minus an airbubble in the tooling gelcoat (ARG…wtf) near one edge.

anyway.

so…I can’t use this on making parts???
I thought that is what it is for…so I don’t have to recoat every time?

The plug is what you use to make the mold (or tool) and from the mold you make the parts…and you use the semi on the mold to make the parts without waxing everytime…clear enough?

Why waste money using it on a plug for one shot to make the mold?

You can’t fill holes with pva. I would recommend a filler primer or duratec.

If you want to temporarily fill a hole on your plug, simply tape the back and fill with modeling clay, wax and PVA the part and take your mold.

nay, these weren’t big holes. Mostly just tape layers that didn’t seal well.
In the end it worked out well, minus the airbubble on one edge, which I am redoing now anyways. I was just paranoid about the semi-perm mold release not working

yeah, that is what I thought, but you just confused me in that last post.

eeeeiiiither way, it all worked out perfectly.

now, I just have to fix the hole in the mold, and start making parts.
knowing me, it’ll take a few times to get it right.
