PVA Shelf Life

I have a gallon of PVA sitting on the shelf at home… opened it and only used maybe a quarts worth, if that.

Been sitting maybe 2 to 3 years.

Good to use or buy a fresh gallon?

(please, no "why are you using PVA comments)

i have used pva that has sat around for over a year.you could test it by spraying some on a piece of aluminum.let cure.check to see if it peels off.then hold it up to the light.if you cant see pin holes in it.then i would say its fine.

When I first started with composites I was given half a quart of PVA that must have been at least 2 years old and it worked fine (that is once I figured out how to use it). It was stored at consistent temp in a dark closet though.

Not sure that PVA is mixed with…water or alcohol…but you can prob’ thin it down if it gets thick. I have some PVA pellets at work that I mix with water…so I can imagine that a PVA solution can just be rehydrated.
