It’s almost 6:00PM and my PVA instructions say to let it sit for 3 hours after the last coat. Can I let the PVA sit more than that (like overnight), or should I wait until morning to proceed with the PVA?
Thanks!

You can let it as long as you like, but you can also use a hairdryer between the coats to speed up the process. Time is money
Thanks! Appreciate the reply!
Well, due to some clay issues, I didn’t get to spray the PVA until this morning. Now I have a new problem. It’s been trying for 30 minutes and I was about to apply the jelcoat when I noticed the surface of the plug is now bumpy. The bottle says the bumps are supposed to flow out and create a glossy surface, but it looks like an orange instead. A really bumpy orange. I used 90psi in a HVLP gun just like the instructions said. Should I shoot another coat and use a soft sponge or something? Or am I just destined to have to sanding block?
Also, how many coats of gelcoat should I use? Thanks.
Eh, couldn’t wait. It smoothed out after I ran a soft sponge over it. I let it dry and it was pretty good.
My gelcoat had tons of pinholes in it as I brushed it on. Is this normal? I brushed them out and most are gone, but a few remain. I plan to use two coats, so I’m hopeful that I can get them out with the second coat.
I’m a fan of PVA on smaller, complex shapes. It takes a bit of practice to get it down but it sounds like you sprayed it on too dry. You want to spray it to a point it will almost run. Try to spray it a little heavier. It will look bumpy at first but will flow out and dry pretty smooth.
