pump only pull up to -27 Hg

Hi is there a way i can get my pump to pull -30 hg coz what ever i do my pump always reads -27 and i needed to know if -27 is ok for getting perfect parts.

thanks

Either your pump or your gauge are bust, you should be getting 29.9 in Philly.

CHeck on a few things.
1)-Retighten all connection points.
2)-Buy a better quality gauge and connection system.
3)-Change your pump oil and verify fill level.

You can still infuse at that level of mercury with smaller parts. But deeper vac will be needed for larger parts later on. Just my opinion.

I’m at sea level-(mile from the surf)…and always get 30hg. But that is with a high end Leybold trivac pump.

Also check connections. Get a can of cooling spray, and spray on the connections, in the threads. If the pump pulls better the next 5 seconds or so, there is a leak in that connection.

Hi What if i’m @ a place that’s far away from sea level, should i still be able to pull -30 or 29.99?

No, when you go up, vacuum level goes down. I do not know by how far, my country is as flat as a pancake… (and I am about 20 ft below sea level…)

What kind of pump? What is it rated for?

Shocked no one asked this earlier. If the pump is rated for only 27" then…well…you can’t get 29"

hi attached is a pic of my pump

The first question, which came up with me: which voltage do you operate it with? It’s a 220 V pump, which probably would also run on 115 V but have a much lower performance.

I run @ 220V

Herman-
cooling spray, could you define?
thanks

These pumps should pull a very deep vacuum. They are double stage. Causes for less vacuum:

Bad pump
Bad vacuum gauge (in that case the pump is good)
A leak
Wrong oil
No oil

These pumps do not have a great life expectancy, so it might be the pump itself (worn vanes)

For spray you can use wd40
