PU fillers and pigments

Hi,

I’m just curious and I would like to get your advices on it. Is it possible to use normal fillers such as silica or microballons with polyurethane resin? Could it be possible to use epoxy or polyester pigments as well on this resin?

Thanks

Fillers are OK, but make sure these are really dry. Many fillers are hygroscopic, and resins do not like that, especially PU resin.

Using epoxy or polyester pigments in general is a bad idea. These are rolled into either a bit of polyester or epoxy resin, to make the (powder)pigments easier to handle.
As the chemistry of polyester, epoxy and PU is so far off, mixing them is not advisable.

I must admit that once we had to use polyester pigment mixed into epoxy, to get a certain effect, and it worked.

Hi Herman,

Many thanks for the info. I’ll keep it in my records!
