Protecting a mold

Does polyester resin/gel coat penetrate wax? I normally use pva but I see alot of people just use wax. The pva forms a good barrier between the mold ( that has a gel coat finish)and the per gelcoat of the new piece, but if I omit the pva will wax be enough to stop the two bonding?

For storing the mold or making a part?

I hate PVA as I never can get a perfect part surface like I can with semi pernament mold releases and wax every 6 to 12 months…

For making a part. i.e when I put the new parts per gelcoat onto a mould also made of per gelcoat.
