Powder coated surfaces good for mold?

Hi, sometime in the future I plan on taking on the challenge of making a couple carbon fiber intake plenum prototypes using an existing part which is powder coated. And I was wondering if it would be safe to apply gel coat to the part or not, and if anyone has tried applying gel coat to a powder coated surface???

Test it yourself.

Prep it with usual release system and just put a drop of gel coat on a spot you will not see.

I often check the release of a job with dob of body filler just to assure myself it will be ok.
