In a vac. bag situation, with material pre-wetted and placed. Would it be possible, less peelply and breather? Epoxy resin used, low temp, med. cure rate.
That really depend on if you ever want to remove it from the part;)
I don’t think you want to try it. However thats just my opinion
Peel ply and breather aren’t on there just for fun. Peel ply allows anything on top of it to be removed and leaves a consistent texture that’s also good for bonding. Breather allows air to escape from the layup and absorbs excess resin that would otherwise stay in your part and make it heavier and weaker.
Thanks fellas, just trying to cut corners (mentally). I have no problems with weight, I’m allready lighter then the rest of’em. As far as toy boats go. Just trying to simplify build process. Any stretchy release ply’s out there?
yes stretchlon will pull off the finished part.
your part may be resin rich this way because no breather cloth to remove excess resin. but it will work.
Thanks Fastrr, just what I need to know. Maybe should have mentioned that prior to dropping lam’s in mold, their prewetted and squeegied, leaving just enough to fill weave. Old school I know, but for toy’s It’s allready above standard.
