Polymerproducts on EBAY

I just order up some epoxy VIP slow resin and water base Polyurethane clear coating from Polymerproducts on Ebay to use in the classroom.

Anyone have used them and good or what experiences with them?

I ordered several different types of epoxy from them a while ago.
I think the tins are floating across the ocean by themselves at the moment, best I go check the beach at low tide again. (I hate waiting for shipping )

Even though you are getting different products it would be great to hear a professional opinion of the quality.

Do you mind me asking how / why you chose that brand?

Thanks mate

MY EBay “slush fund” to buy supplies for the students to use in the classroom has been growing.

And since they are advertizing on Ebay and take Paypal I thought I’d give them a try. Plus they are not to far for me to drop by them if they have any old stock they will want to donate to my program for a tax break too!

The reason behind the water based clear Polyurethane is that it is easliy sprayed (HVLP guns) and to clear coat CF pre-preg items that I have the students make.

ive been experimenting with a polyurethane clear for topcoating, not waterbased but sprayable straight out of the tin, its called Bondaseal Clear and has various uses. I thought i`d give it a go as the data on it says that it bonds well to fibre glass, drys quick and it must be extremely tough as it can be used to coat wood flooring and be walked upon within 24 hours.

I`m still experimenting with it at the mo but so far it seems ok. It buffs up very well infact one of its other uses is to coat plugs before laying up the mold. Another test i need to carry out is to see how it takes a compressive test i.e a nut and bolt tightened up and left a while to see if it cracks or the bond is weak. Oh yes it also states will not yellow so it must have UV protection.

My problem with normal UV clearcoting using other products has been a poor bond which can break down especially round a bolt/nut and washer.

Good thinking!

I like the water base PUR spray coating for the students safety but also they tend to lay a spray gun down to watch a resin coat cure and gun gets trashed…

It doesn’t allow thick build up coating but with the epoxy that we have at the moment blushes up during curing. We have to sand, buff and re-top coat.
