Polyester Resin for Vacuum Infusion? Also: Inexpensive flow media?

Is there any reason why not as long as it’s low enough viscosity? I just haven’t seen it listed as an ‘infusion resin’ anywhere…

Also, does anybody have a source on an inexpensive alternative to the flow media available on composites sites?

Thanks in advance!

CCP offers a low viscosity polyester infusion resin. The color is rather dark do it only works well with carbon and fiberglass layups. You can purchase gallons from fiberglass supply.

Hexion also has a listing for polyester infusion resin.

You can also thin standard polyesters with styrene to lower the viscosity. Thinned resins don’t infuse as well as their specialy counterparts, but they work decent.

I heard that garden netting works well for flow media. Flow media is already relatively inexpensive. A little goes a long way.
