Polyester Primer for mold surfacing?????

I think it was cover aways back but has anyone use Polyester Primer for the mold surface and then wax / semi permament coat it for low production numbers?

We have a VW deck lid mold that the students and my aide screwed upped (we already return the rare deck lid so we can’t make another one) and we have to bondo repair before recoating and I wanted to try just using the Polyester primer.

Jim,
I have used the Duratec polyester primer and followed up by polishing and then used zyvax for the semi permanet mold release.
Good luck

By the way, this is my first post

i thought that you can only use semi permanent mold release on molds that are conditiond alittle? (Used 3-4 times)
or it all depends on the material that you make your mold with? per, epoxy, ?

smei permeanet systems use a cleaner that removes everything from the pores of the tool. So this would eliminate any benefits from conditioning.
Conditioning does the following.
it fills the pores and leaves residue from the previous cast so that you are in effect leaving small bits of debris in the tool porosity.
Cleaning the tool with the mold cleaner removes all this so that the surface preparation will do the same thing.
Surface release then acts as the parting agent.
