i’ve been reading and reading but i’d like some more clarification on what i should be using and what’s the difference. i want the clearest and smoothest finished i can get but not sure what to use. i had bad luck with the polyester when i tried to sand it (didnt know i could use an additive) and i just bought some vinylester today and it seems to have a “cloudy” look when it’s mixed, although the 1st layer seems to have gone down pretty clear. i havent tried epoxy. is there even a big difference in all 3???
when I was using polyester resin it had an addtive in it to make it sandable.(for aircraft interiors)
I used 4 1/2 cc of hardener to a quart and mixed then added more hardener one drop at a time until the resin turned to a pink tint mixing slowly the whole time as not to generate bubbles.I poured the full quart out on to my part (which was a dash overlay) and brushed in one direction. waited for full cure using a small test sample to test with.
using 800 sandpaper to smoth out brush strokes. then sprayed a fine coat
of poly, it came out A-1. I hope this has been of some help to you.
