Polishing with Mirka Ceros

Hi Everybody

In order to save the money for a polishing equipment can i polish PU 2k paint with my MIRKA CEROS sander at min speed?
Otherwise could somebody recommend a cheap and satisfactory polishing machine?

Thanks

Interesting question. I don’t think the mirka ceros has enough raw power, and the ceros isn’t rotating circular. Up to 3m Trizact it is the perfect machine though.

It’s an excentric moving pad and you want a circular rotation for polishing. Do you have a big compressor for compressed air ? Otherwise you can buy a pneumatic grinder for €25 or so. Then mount a sanding pad on it and you have a polish machine. Don’t use the max rpm because then you will burn your paint or you have to work with water cooling.

I have found very expensive equipment for pennies on the dollar with just a little time invested in looking.
You can find professional eqpt. that will last a lifetime if well cared for.

The best polisher will be a rotary to best cut sanding scratches. Something like the electric Milwaukee variable speed or similiar.

Then use an electric orbital/oscilating smaller machine.

Stay away from air driven tools unless you have a very large air compressor as these tools are air hogs.

You can also find a plethora of adapter face pads etc. on ebay.

Critical for a good result is speed control. You really want to be able to control the RPM of the polisher.

To my knowledge, there are no good sanders, which are also good polishers. (although I like the Mirka Ceros and Deros for sanding a lot.

For polishing I would recommend a machine like this: http://www.slimmerschuren.nl/mirka-schuurmachines/mirka-schuurmachines-elektrisch/polijstmachine-1200w.html.

Also keep in mind that the pads and paste also make a huge difference. This works: http://www.slimmerschuren.nl/polijstmiddelen-farecla/farecla-polijstmiddel-voor-polyester-boten

Ok The price is reasonable. 300e for the pro polishers is excessive for my budget
