Hey guys, I have a few questions about how to prep a plug after the shape is made and there are small imperfections in the surface small like bubbles?
To get my plug I used stretched cellophane plastic over a partially convexed shape and vacuum bagged it with fiberglass and epoxy, and the only problem with the plug was 2 or 3 small air bubbles(1/16~3/32) and slight wrinkling in a few spots were the cellophane did not stretch perfectly.
What is the best way to fill in these problem spots? The surface that I obtained from the part I made is perfectly smooth and very glossy, and from what I read this should aid me in quality of finish since there will not have to be very much waxing and buffing to go over uneven/bad spots.
The best thing I could think of is to dab a little epoxy in the bubble holes and let it self level, but the wrinkle seems a lot harder of a scenario to fix as there really isn’t any easy way to just throw the stuff on there and have it fill the shape of the void.
Any ideas?
Will my parting wax be able to go over the cellophane that remains on the surface of the plug and do its job, as it kinda became part of the plug even though I oiled it well hoping it would come with the plug.
And would a solution to the small imperfections be to just wax over them and buff out to the surface I desire?
