Plug construction

Here is the plug i started making today.
I am trying to make a mould for a panel similar to the one made in the 4th post of the following thread:

The reason i am making again the plug is that the part now must fit to a RHD car so it needs a different mould.
This time i decided not to make the plug out of steel but using a large glass panel and forming on it the 3d triangle that the part requires. I started of pieces of foam as shown in the following picture and gluing them together.

Using a knife a formed the basic shape of the 3d triangle and then applied a layer of body filler on it. After several iterations of filling and sanding and filling again i came out with the result of the following picture.

Problem is that the part has still some minor imperfections on it as shown in the following picture. Do you think that these will be filled by the primer and paint or i have to fill and sand again until i get a perfect result?

High build up primer is best now so you can then use extra fine sand paper after it drys.

Can i use epoxy high build primer, given that the filler is polyester?

I recommend using Duratec ez sanding primer, then duratec high gloss black for the surface. you will have to wet sand and polish but works excellent for plug surfaces

For small imperfections I would use glazing/spot putty, blend that in by sanding, then prime/paint.

epoxy primer is used on bare metals , as far as i know…
