How strong would 5 layers of 6oz plain weave fg be with two layers of 20oz twill carbon ? Strong enough for a fender?
I can’t use any csm as i am using epoxy resin that won’t break down the binding agent on the csm.
my suggestion would be to make a series of test panels on a sheet of glass. do whatever process you plan to do on the part and compare the strengths of the panels to the weight(and cost if thats a factor) to help determine what will be your best choice. once you find a laminate your happy with make a real part and bolt it on and test it out. if your going for weight savings using a core may be a better direction vs a solid laminate. but ultimatly it depends on many factors such as the part shape and requirments.
Strong enough I would guess yes.
However first thing that comes to mind is that surface quality will be an issue when using 20 oz cloth.
You can get CSM which is compatable with Epoxy.
