Pic request! Workshops and material storage

Hey guys, I have been accumulating a lot of supplies and materials and i think its time to make a dedicated area for composite work so i was looking to get some ideas…

So far the plan is to have a material rack at the end of the table to make it easy to trim. Id like to make something like the tables at joann fabrics with an aluminum u-channel to help guide cutting straight pieces. Also add a ruler build in to make quick cuts.

I also want to make some sort of shelving for pre cut pieces. This way i can have my pieces already cut ahead of time and just throw them in the mold (it will save me a ton of time to cut it all at once) I was thinking of one of those drying racks for art work? any other suggestions?

Id love to see pics of everyones shop set up if they’re willing to share!

we have some pics of our shop online you are welcome to look at. Although these are from a few years back and things have changed dramatically .

Might be a bit larger than most home shops. Also included is the bigger oven, and house vacuum system.
Cutting table is plexi, but it scores and then later cuts suck. We HAD a dense rubber on top, and that was great. We use T and 90deg L rulers, 90/45deg angles, roller knives and various shears. Some people have square/rectangle/custom G10/FR4 templates. HEPA vacuum for cleanup.
Layup tables are the large steel tables, and some portable PP sheet topped tables with their own dry dual-piston pumps (Gast).

thats awesome, its so clean! my shop is a huge mess lol
What kind of table top are you using on the table in front of you rack of material?

what is the blue frame for in the 3rd pic? kinda looks like its sectioning off that table?

That is a frame for mounting some sort of scanning system that has never worked to my knowledge. It now holds curtains and lights for visible flow analysis. There was too much stray light/movement in the past.

all of our work stations are melamine surfaced and prepreg stations are laminated in “plastic” cutting materials for tayloring components. The majority of our lay ups are machine cut using a gerber dcs2500 ply cutter.

Thank you for the interest.

I´m just building a material storage stand myself. It will be mounted on rolls, so I can move it around in the shop.

Wow! that looks really similar to the one I had made. Mine is also on rollers, about a meter wide at the top and 2 meters at the bottom. I also had them cut a couple extra poles to place in the center. I have different rolls of CF so I usually switch out depending on the project.
